The search is ongoing for 82-year-old Nora Wilson Hughes of Trafford. Deputies were called to a residence in the 3300 block of Smith Mill Road around noon yesterday to search for her after a family member reported her missing.

Hughes’ adult daughter reported last seeing her mother yesterday morning and that her mother suffers from Alzheimer’s and may have become disoriented. Wilson was last seen wearing a beige sweater and blue jeans.

Deputies searched the area around the home yesterday assisted by a helicopter from ALEA equipped with a forward looking infrared device that detects heat signatures and K9 tracking teams. Mrs. Hughes has not been located.

Deputies returned to the area with K9 search teams this morning to resume the ground search. The  search is being conducted in a densely wooded area with steep hills and a creek near Luke Harris Road and Trafford-County Line Road.  Additional deputies from the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Narcotics Unit are set to join the search. The ALEA helicopter is also expected to return as morning fog lifts.

Anyone who may have seen Mrs. Hughes is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
