3 in Custody After Shots Fired at Deputies

On Wednesday September 4, 2019 at approximately 4:30pm plainclothes deputies in an unmarked Sheriff’s vehicle were shot at near Arlington Avenue and 32nd Street in Bessemer.  The deputies were working a special detail when a vehicle passed them and came to a stop.  Men exited the vehicle and shot at the deputies.  Bullets struck the vehicle but the deputies were unharmed.  The men fled the scene but were located by Bessemer Police Officers near Granville Avenue and 22nd Street Bessemer.  Two adults and one juvenile are in custody. Weapons were recovered from the vehicle.   This offense is still under investigation and charges are pending.
