Bodies Found in McCalla Home Likely Murder-Suicide

On Sunday, July 31, 2022 at approximately 7:00PM, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 5500 block of Myron Clark Road in McCalla to investigate two bodies that had been found by a family member inside of a home.  After a thorough investigation and pending the coroner’s final findings, it appears that the subjects were a part of a murder-suicide at the residence.  The 67-year-old female had apparently been shot to death by her 68-year-old husband, who then took his own life.   A family member had gone to the home after being unable to reach the subjects by phone and discovered the bodies.
