Body Found in Abandoned House Fire in Fairfield

On Tuesday December 13, 2022, at approximately 6:18pm first responders were dispatched to a fire at an abandoned home at 409 44th Street in Fairfield.  Jefferson County Deputies and the Fairfield Fire Department responded to the fire.  After the fire was extinguished, first responders located a body inside.  Neighbors reported seeing an unknown male hanging around the abandoned home for about a week.  The Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office and Jefferson County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.  The body was transported to the Coroner’s Office for examination.  All agencies are working together in this investigation.
