Warrant Issued in Forestdale Homicide

Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives have obtained warrants in association with a September 19th homicide.  A 16-year-old male has been charged with capital murder in the death of 57-year-old Demetrius Knight. In accordance with Aniah’s Law, the charge currently has no bond.

At approximately 5:40 PM on September 19th, deputies were called to the 1700 block of Huitt Street in Forestdale to investigate a person who had been shot.  Deputies encountered the victim, who had been shot inside his vehicle.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Detectives scoured the area looking for witnesses and evidence.  They were able to identify the suspect and present the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.  The warrant was issued Tuesday morning.  The juvenile is currently being held in the G. Ross Bell Juvenile Detention Center awaiting his adjudication hearing.
