One Deceased After Break-In

Around 4:25 AM today, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6600 block of Newbridge Drive in McCalla on reports of a person shot.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 33-year-old male who had been shot to death.  According to the initial report, the deceased had broken into the home and engaged in a physical altercation with the occupants.  During the altercation, a firearm was produced, and shots were fired, killing the male who entered the home.  The deceased and the occupants were known to each other.

Jefferson County Criminal Division detectives are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the break-in and the shooting.
