Attempted Kidnapping of a Minor

On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 7150 Aaron Aronov Drive (Marathon Gas Station) to investigate a report of an attempted abduction of a 4-year-old victim.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the victim was seen by Fairfield Fire & Rescue.  Deputies received a description of the suspect and quickly located him within 2 blocks of the scene and took him into custody.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an adult male suspect attempted to forcefully take the victim from their mother; however, the mother immediately gained control of her child, and the suspect left the store.

The suspect has been identified as:

Jimmy Cone, 55, of Jefferson County.  The suspect has been charged with Child Abuse Maltreat under a $15,000.00 bond and 1st Degree Kidnapping under a $30,000.00 bond.  The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
