On Friday, September 6, 2024, at approximately 1:24 a.m., deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 301 59th Street in Fairfield to investigate a report of a traffic accident and a person shot. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a wrecked passenger vehicle and people laying in the roadway of Avenue C near 59th Street. The victims included an adult male; an adult female; a juvenile female and a toddler male. Birmingham Fire & Rescue transported the victims to UAB and Children’s Hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies discovered another wrecked passenger vehicle on Avenue C near 60th Street that struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle as well. Deputies also discovered an adult female victim, suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The female victim was transported to UAB Hospital by Birmingham Fire & Rescue. In addition, deputies discovered an adult male victim, suffering from minor injuries. The male victim was treated at the scene by medics.
Preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles collided. There have been no arrests or charges filed in the case. The investigation is still ongoing.
