Narcotics Arrest in Smithfield

On September 11, 2024, the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit and the Sheriff’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team conducted a detail in the Smithfield area.  Detectives had previously received citizen complaints regarding drug sales and violent crime in the area.  The detail conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Tahoe at the intersection of 9th Street West and Graymont Avenue for multiple traffic violations.  The result of the traffic stop led to an arrest and a seizure of narcotics and money.

The suspect has been identified as: Shelly Lee Jones, 54, of Birmingham, Alabama.  The suspect has been charged with: Drug Trafficking with a $7,500.00 bond; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with a $1,000.00 bond; Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree with a $1,000.00 bond.  Total bond: $9,500.00.  The suspect is out on bond from the Jefferson County Jail.

Narcotics seized: 20 grams of Oxycodone pills (47 pills); 10 grams of Dilaudid pills (10 pills); 40 grams of Soma (71 pills), 40 grams of Marijuana, 110 grams of Promethazine and 47 Suboxone strips.

Money seized: $2,102.00
