Vehicle Pursuit

On Monday, November 11, 2024, at approximately 3:50 p.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 5000 block of Myron Massey Road to investigate a report of persons with guns.  Upon arrival, deputies observed the suspect vehicle attempting to flee the scene.  Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop; however, the stolen (2019 Hyundai) suspect vehicle refused to stop.   During the brief pursuit, the suspect vehicle struck a motorist on Allison Bonnet Memorial Drive, causing minimal damage.  The pursuit ended in the 5300 block of Molton Gray Drive, where the suspect vehicle struck a vehicle that was parked in a driveway.  Four suspects exited the vehicle and ran into a wooded area.  Midfield Police Department officers assisted and immediately captured one of the suspects.  Jefferson County K9 Units as well as Bessemer Police Department officers responded to the scene and captured a second suspect as he exited the wooded area.  Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene to investigate both traffic accidents.  One weapon was recovered from the arrest location.  Two other suspects are still at large.

Suspect #1 has been identified as: a 14-year-old juvenile.  The suspect has been charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree, Wreckless Endangerment, Menacing, Attempting to Elude, Certain Persons Forbidden and 2 Counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident.  The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Facility.

Suspect #2 has been identified as: a 14-year-old juvenile.  The suspect is charged with Attempting to Elude.  The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Facility.
