On Monday, December 16, 2024, due to a large number of complaints from Jefferson County citizens, detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Division conducted an operation in the Smithfield area. Detectives observed a Silver Lexus commit a traffic violation and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle at 8th Avenue West and Center Street. The traffic stop led to an arrest.
The suspect has been identified as: Tonnio Edwards, age, 56. Edwards has been charged with Drug Trafficking with a $20,000.00 bond; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with a $5,000.00 bond; and Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree with a $1,000.00 bond. The suspect is out on bond from the Jefferson County Jail.

- 21 Oxycodone Pills
- 6 Xanax Pills
- 5 Suboxone Pills
- 6 Adderall Pills
- 17 Somas Pills
- 18 Gaba Pills
- 2 Ecstasy Pills
Weapon seized:
- Glock 23 .40 cal.
