Homicide Investigation in Fairfield ***CORRECTION***

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Jefferson County Deputies responded to 7201 Aaron Aronov Drive (Westen Hills Mall) to investigate a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 21-year-old male victim, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Fairfield Fire & responded to the scene and transported the victim to U.A.B. Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigation revealed that two groups of people exchanged words which led to gunfire in the Western Hills Mall Food Court.  It was also discovered that a 32-year-old male victim, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, was transported by personal vehicle to B.M.C. Princeton Hospital for his injury, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as: Darin Marquese Hall, age, 32. The victim was an innocent bystander.

Sheriff Mark Pettway stated, ” My main concern is keeping the citizens of Jefferson County safe.  We will use all of our resources to bring those who are responsible to justice.  As a result of this brazen act of violence, an innocent person has died.”
