On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately 3:56 p.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1400 block of Pratt Highway to investigate a report of a person down. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male victim, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Forestdale Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
