On March 12, 2025, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a traffic stop on a stolen red Dodge Charger; however, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. The driver continued until he stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of 57th Street, Fairfield, Alabama. Both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle and attempted to flee from deputies. Both suspects were quickly apprehended.
Suspect #1 has been identified as: Gary Andre Steele, age, 34. Steele has been charged with Attempting to Elude a Police Officer with a $1,000.00 bond; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with a $5,000.00 bond; Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree with a $3,000.00 bond; Burglary 2nd Degree with a $20,000.00 bond; and Receiving Stolen Property with a $30,000.00 bond. Total bond: $59,000.00. The suspect is out on bond from the Jefferson County Jail.
Suspect #2 has been identified as: Eric Deeon Conley, age, 36. Conley has been charged with Attempting to Elude a Police Officer with a $1,000.00 bond; Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol with a $15,000.00 bond; Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree with a $5,000.00 bond; Drug Trafficking with a $50,00.00 bond; and Burglary 2nd Degree with a $30,000.00 bond. Total bond: $101,000.00. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
