On Sunday, May 11, 2025, at approximately 4:58 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 618 3rd Avenue, Mulga, Alabama to investigate a report of a person down. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 40-year-old male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Minor Fire Department and Regional Paramedical Services (RPS) responded to the scene. RPS transported the victim to UAB Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
A search for the 31-year-old male suspect ended in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue Mulga, where he was discovered laying on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect went to the victim’s home. The victim and the suspect then became involved in a verbal altercation that led to shots being fired.
