On Thursday, April 30, 2026, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the SWAT Team, Highway Safety Unit, and additional personnel, executed a search warrant in the 1100 block of Birchwood Street in Birmingham.
During the operation, deputies identified the suspect as 20-year-old Ke’von Lashard Atkins. Atkins was taken into custody and has been charged with 2 Counts of Drug Trafficking. He is currently being held with a $3,010,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
As a result of the search, investigators seized the following items:
- Narcotics: Approximately 373 grams of methamphetamine, 8.65 grams of fentanyl, two Xanax pills, and two ecstasy pills
- Currency: $4,878 in U.S. currency
- Firearm: Glock 19 9mm handgun with an extended magazine
- Additional Items: Six cellular phones
