62-year-old Gary Arthur Williams died Saturday at a hospital where he was being treated for stab wounds he received during an assault that occurred in June.

Just before 11:00 pm on June 10, 2017, deputies were called to investigate an assault that occurred in the 9400 block of Old Tennessee Pike Road in northern Jefferson County. They arrived to find the victim outside a camper he was living in suffering from stab wounds.

Two men at the scene reported that a man named “Ray” had come to them at their residence and said “someone jumped on Gary” prompting them to go check on the victim. They called 911 and attempted first aid. Williams was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries on July 8, 2017.
