On January 24, 2019 Sheriff Mark Pettway met with the Jefferson County Commission to gain final approval for a 5 percent cost of living raise for Jefferson County deputies. The raise was to allow the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to be competitive with surrounding agencies. Sheriff’ Pettway wants to be able to recruit and retain quality personnel. The raise is scheduled to go into affect on April 1st of this year.
