Shooting at Western Hills Mall Leaves One Injured

At approximately 1:00 PM on Monday, August 31, 2020, Jefferson County Deputies were called to Western Hills Mall in Fairfield to investigate a reported shooting.  It was reported that a male victim was shot in the parking lot of the mall and had been transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.

Once on the scene, deputies found multiple shell casings near an entrance to the mall.  Detectives were able to locate witnesses who stated that a verbal altercation had occurred in the parking lot of the mall between two males.  One of the males was shot in the hip.  A third male fired at the original shooter from a location near the mall entrance, appearing to fire in defense of the victim.

The 23 year old victim remains in a local hospital.  His injuries are thought to be non-life threatening.
