On Monday, September 7, 2026, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 2400 block of 1st Place NW to investigate a report of a person down.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a victim who stated that two unknown male suspects had broken into his home. The victim said he asked the intruders to leave, but they refused.
A physical altercation ensued, during which the victim stated that he fired a round that grazed one of the suspects. The suspects then fled the scene in a Jeep Gladiator.
Deputies later located the suspects in the 4700 block of Pinson Boulevard, where they were taken into custody without incident.
“Our deputies did an outstanding job in locating and securing these two suspects so quickly. Great job by all!” said Sheriff Mark Pettway.
Suspects:
- Dylan James Klein, 35, has been arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Harassment, and DUI. Klein was issued a $38,500 bond and remains in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
- Lester Wayne Eakes, 54, has been arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Harassment. Eakes was issued a $31,000 bond and remains in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
