A 15-year-old north Jefferson County teen has been charged with murder for the July 19 shooting death of a Sayre man.

Just after 2:15pm on July 19, deputies were called to the 4200 block of Levine Avenue near Graysville on a murder investigation.

The resident, 22-year-old Austin Lee Nunn was dead on the scene. A medical examination determined that Nunn had been shot.

Detectives began an investigation into the murder. They developed information that a red SUV had been seen near the residence around the time of the murder.

Detectives cross referenced the victim’s cellular phone records with vehicle registrations and learned that one of the people in his phone log owned a red SUV. They contacted the registered owner and discovered that the vehicle has been driven by a family member on the day of the murder. The family member was identified as a 15-year-old male.

Detectives located the suspect and questioned him. During questioning he admitted shooting Nunn during a drug deal at the home.

The teen was arrested and charged with Capital Murder. He was taken to the Jefferson County Youth Detention Facility.
