On May 6, 2021, shortly after 11:00 AM, a male was shot to death inside of a gray Dodge Charger at a convenience store.  Jefferson County Detectives began an intensive investigation into the shooting and with the public’s assistance, were able to develop a suspect.

Around 5:30 PM on May 6, 2021, Deputies took 24 year old, Travec Brandon Ard into custody near UAB Hospital.  Ard is being held in the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer on the charge of Capital Murder.  His charge has no bond.

Without the public stepping up and providing us with information, we would have never been able to develop a suspect so quickly.  This is the partnership we have been working to build with the citizens of Jefferson County.  It appears that we are on the moving in the right direction.
