Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

On April 4, 2024, at approximately 10:30 AM, patrol deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, performed a welfare check at a residence located at 216 2nd Avenue, Mulga, AL.  Upon making entry, deputies discovered a 46-year-old Black female victim laying on the floor and unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Graysville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

The victim was identified as:

Lakechia Bryant, 46, of 216 2nd Avenue, Mulga, AL.  She was a victim of domestic violence.

The suspect has been identified as:

Antonius Bonner, 44, of Mulga, AL.  Bonner is being held at the Jefferson County Jail for Murder and Parole Violation, both under no bond.
