Around 11:00 AM today, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisting the US Marshal’s Task Force with stopping a vehicle showing to have been stolen out of the Homewood area.  When officials attempted to stop the vehicle on 20th Street in Ensley, the vehicle struck one of the task force agencies’ vehicles but was able to continue the attempt to elude.  The suspect vehicle continued for a short distance onto I-59 South, where their damaged vehicle wrecked near mile marker 119.  The driver, a 16-year-old male, also had an outstanding warrant for attempted murder on a case originally worked by the Birmingham Police Department.

The juvenile suspect was transported to the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham.  He is currently being held on the outstanding attempted murder warrant on a $60,000.00 bond.
