Early yesterday morning deputies responded to a report of a theft from Corner High School. A lawn mower, an ATV and a Gator utility vehicle were reported stolen. A witness reported seeing a green Nissan truck pulling the Gator down the road.

Images of three men were caught on surveillance cameras at the high school. The images were shared on social media by one of the coaches at the school. Tips were received about the identity of the men and where they could be found.

Deputies acting on the information went to a residence in the 5300 block of Hollis Goodwin Road. There they located a green Nissan truck matching the description given by the witness. 36 year old Jeremy Stewart of Dora was found hiding in a closet at the residence. He was questioned by deputies and admitted to taking part in the theft. He directed deputies to a wooded area off Jim Tate Road where the Gator and the lawn mower recovered. He also showed them a house in Sumiton where the ATV had been dropped off. It was no longer at the location and has not been recovered.

Stewart was arrested and charged with Theft of Property 2nd Degree. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $2500.

The other two men involved in the theft have been identified, but have not yet been located.
