The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the shooting of a 13-year-old male victim who was riding in a vehicle with his parents. The incident occurred on the morning of March 31, 2024, near the 500 block of B Y Williams Sr. Dr. in Midfield. A 35-year-old male suspect has been taken into custody.
The suspect has been identified as:
Mondricus Edmond Cooks, 35, of Birmingham, AL. The suspect has been charged with 5 counts of Attempted Murder, under a bond of $50,000.00 each. Cooks has also been charged with Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Vehicle, under a bond of $30,000.00. Total bond: $280,000.00
The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
