Jefferson County Barber Commission

Sheriff Mark Pettway believes public safety extends beyond enforcement. It includes mentorship, advocacy, and strengthening trusted community spaces. Through an ongoing partnership with the Jefferson County Barber Commission, the Sheriff’s Office supports licensed barbers across Jefferson County, helps ensure compliance standards are maintained, and collaborates on initiatives that promote mental health, fatherhood, and conflict resolution.

The Barber Commission and its partner, the Brother Let’s Talk initiative, encourages men to seek support and engage in meaningful conversations across Jefferson County. Barbershops often serve as trusted spaces where fathers and sons connect, mentorship happens, and community bonds are strengthened.
