A 32-year-old Bessemer man has been charged with the April 13, murder of Jeremy Davis and the robbery of a second man.
Just before 8:00 pm on April 13, deputies were called to the Midfield Police Department to investigate a report of a deceased person in a car in the parking lot.

Once on scene deputies located an adult male who was deceased in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The driver remained on scene. It was reported that the victim had been shot in an unincorporated area of Jefferson County.
Initial information is that the driver of the car met with the victim to purchase marijuana. The victim told the driver to pull his car to the dead end of Salina Avenue. According to the driver, when he came to a stop an unknown suspect walked up and shot the victim. The driver then drove to Midfield Police Department for help.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Davis of Bessemer.
Information developed by detectives is that 32-year-old Horace Earl Jackson had called Jeremy Davis to come to Salina Avenue. When he got there the two men argued. Jackson pulled a gun and shot Davis. He then robbed the driver of his cell phone and wallet before telling the driver to drive the victim away.
On April 18, detectives reviewed the case with the District Attorney’s office and obtained arrest warrants formally charging 32-year-old Horace Earl Jackson with Murder and Robbery 1stDegree. Jackson also had several outstanding felony warrants for probation violations and failure to appear in court on previous drug charges.
On April 19, Jackson turned himself in to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains with no bond.
