A 35-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Toney Felix Myers Jr.

Myers was shot during an argument at a residence in the 100 block of 14th Avenue NW on Wednesday. He fled the scene and attempted to drive himself to the hospital, but crashed his car on the way. He was taken to the hospital and later died as a result of the shooting.

Information gathered at the scene by detectives is that Myers had been at the residence searching for his girlfriend. While there, he engaged in an argument and physical fight with 35-year-old Kevin Lewayne Speakman of Birmingham. During the fight, Speakman pulled a handgun and shot Myers. After being shot Myers got into his car and attempted to drive to the hospital. Speakman fled the scene before deputies arrived.
