Birmingham Man Arrested for Trafficking Cocaine and Heroin

A 24-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested for trafficking cocaine and heroin.

Wednesday afternoon deputies from the Sheriff’s Warrant Detail went to an apartment in the 2900 block of Gallant Drive to arrest 24-year-old Tevaris Tate for an outstanding warrant charging him with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

Once inside the apartment the deputies observed marijuana in plain view. They called narcotics investigators to the home to assist.

Narcotics investigators asked for and were granted consent to search the apartment. During the search they discovered 49 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, two handguns, and drug paraphernalia. One of the handguns had been reported stolen.

Tevaris Tate was arrested for the outstanding warrant and taken to the Jefferson County Jail. Yesterday narcotics investigators obtained arrest warrants formally charging him with Trafficking Heroin, Trafficking Cocaine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He remains in jail with bond set at $235,600.

28-year-old Brittany Odom was also arrested for Receiving Stolen Property. She was released on bond pending court proceedings.
