Just before noon yesterday members of the Sheriff’s Office Warrant Detail went to a home in the 3500 block of Hemlock Avenue SW in search of 29-year-old Curtis Holt Jr. Holt was wanted for several outstanding warrants charging him with failing to appear in court on prior drug charges.

As the deputies approached the house, two men jumped out of a van and ran away. One of the men was later identified as Michael Anthony Watts. He was carrying two backpacks as he fled. Deputies captured Watts and found the backpacks to contain 42 grams of cocaine, marijuana, digital scales and cash. Holt was found still inside the van along with two handguns that had been reported stolen.

Watts was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await formal charges of Trafficking Illegal Drugs, Resisting Arrest, and Attempting to Elude.

Narcotics investigators obtained warrants this afternoon charging Watts with Trafficking Cocaine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, Attempting to Elude, and Resisting Arrest. He is held in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $105,300.00.

Holt was arrested for the outstanding warrants. He was released by a judge.

This case will be reviewed with the ATF for possible federal firearms charges.
