A 26-year-old Birmingham man was arrested yesterday afternoon for Trafficking Heroin.

Just after 3:00 pm yesterday afternoon members of the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit conducted a surveillance operation at an apartment in the Huffman area of Jefferson County as part of an ongoing investigation into heroin distribution. During the surveillance, they observed 26-year-old Dedrick Forsythe and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Nephateri Davis, near the apartment. Forsythe was recognized as having an outstanding felony warrant for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Uniformed patrol personnel arrested Forsythe for the outstanding warrant. Nephateri Davis was found to have three grams of cocaine in her purse and was also arrested.
The pair was questioned by narcotics investigators and granted consent to search their apartment for drugs. During the search deputies discovered forty-four grams of heroin, marijuana, digital scales, prescription cough medicine, four handguns, and cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $9,000.
Dedrick Demarcus Forsythe was charged with Trafficking Heroin as well as the outstanding warrant for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he is held with no bond.
Nephateri Denise Davis was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where she posted $1,000 bond and was released pending court proceedings.
