Just after 2:30 pm on Sunday November 6, 2016, deputies were in the area of Center Brook apartments in Center Point searching for a suspect in a robbery that had occurred earlier.

A deputy spotted a male subject who matched the description of the suspect sitting in the back seat of a car in the parking lot. He approached the male and asked for his identification. The man said he had none, but offered his social security number. A computer check showed that the number was not his. He then told the deputy his true identity and was found to have two outstanding felony warrants for failing to appear on drug charges. He was arrested for these warrants.

A search of the vehicle in which he had been sitting yielded a trafficking amount of heroin.

24-year-old Noviean Awann Gardiner of Birmingham was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains on charges of Trafficking Heroin and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. He has no bond.
