Birmingham Teen Arrested for Shooting at Carnival

A 17-year-old Birmingham teen has been arrested for a weekend shooting at a carnival in Center Point.

Six people including a one-year-old child were injured by gunfire last Saturday night a carnival in a church parking lot. One person also suffered minor injuries when she was knocked down by people running from the gunfire. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

A team of Sheriff’s detectives and evidence technicians immediately began investigating. Detectives reviewed eyewitness accounts, written statements, and physical evidence and a suspect was quickly identified.

On April 18, 17-year-old Laeric Bailey of Birmingham was located and taken into custody. On April 20, Sheriff’s detectives obtained an arrest warrant formally charging him with Assault 2nd Degree. Additional charges are expected.
