Around 11:10 AM today, deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Elfreth Johnson Road in eastern Jefferson County, on the report of a body located in a wooded area.  Upon arrival, deputies met with a group who had conducted a search in the area.  They showed deputies where the body was located.  Earlier this week, a 33-year-old, male subject was involved in a single vehicle accident on his way home.  Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the accident, while the subject was being treated by medical personnel. For undetermined reasons, the subject fled from the scene and was unable to be located.

Friends and family members conducted a search near the area where the subject had last been seen.  They located a body and contacted the Sheriff’s Office for assistance.  The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, as well as confirm the identity of the subject.  Preliminary evidence does not suggest foul play is associated with the death.   The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the subject’s death.  If you have any information regarding this death, please call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450, option 2.
