A 36-year-old Center Point man has been arrested and charged with Trafficking Heroin and Hydrocodone after the drugs were discovered during a traffic stop.

Ray Anthony Jenkins
Just after 1:30 Thursday afternoon deputies on patrol along Center Point Parkway conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Ray Anthony Jenkins. Jenkins was stopped for failure to wear a seatbelt.
As deputies spoke with Jenkins they spotted a prescription pill bottle on the floor inside the car. Jenkins told deputies that the bottle belonged to his aunt and that she must have left the bottle in his car. Inspection of the bottle revealed that the name had been scratched off. They contacted his aunt and she told them that she had not left any medication in his car. The bottle was found to contain hydrocodone tablets.
A subsequent search of the car revealed more hydrocodone tablets, heroin, marijuana and digital scales.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit came to the scene to conduct an investigation.
Jenkins was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await formal charges.
On Friday afternoon Narcotics investigators obtained arrest warrants formally charging Jenkins with Trafficking Illegal Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $100,600.00
