Just after 5:00 pm on February 27, deputies responded to a report of a person shot on the parking lot of a drug store in the 2300 block of Center Point Parkway. They arrived to find an adult male and an adult female suffering injuries caused by flying glass. No one was shot. The injured were treated and released from a local hospital.

Preliminary information indicated that a person riding in the car with the victims exchanged gunfire with another group in a separate car. The victims pulled into the parking lot and the other car fled the scene.

A nearby deputy spotted the suspect’s car leaving the area and stopped it along 23rd Ave NW. The occupants were detained and questioned by detectives.

Further investigation revealed that the driver of the suspect vehicle, 19-year-old Montavius Spearman of Center Point, was involved in an ongoing feud with the passenger in the victim’s car. When he saw them driving on Center Point Parkway he fired shots at the car.

Spearman was taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await formal charges.

Yesterday afternoon detectives obtained arrest warrants formally charging Montavius Darnell Spearman with Attempted Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Attempting to Elude, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $20,900.
