Just after 6:30 PM tonight, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of 27th Avenue NE in Centerpoint on a report of a child who had been struck by a vehicle.
The 6-year-old boy had been accidentally struck by a vehicle as it was backing down the driveway of a residence. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. At this point in the investigation, it does not appear that criminal activity was associated with this incident.
