Child Dies in Eastern Jefferson County Fire

At approximately 11:39 AM, on June 30, 2021, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a mobile home that was on fire at the 7600 block of Self Lane.  The caller stated that there was a 7-year-old boy trapped in a bedroom inside the home.  Palmerdale Fire Department arrived on the scene and attempted to rescue the child.  Attempts to save the child were unsuccessful due to the extent the fire had progressed prior to their arrival.

The Alabama State Fire Marshall’s Office will be handling the investigation into the cause of the fire.
