Child Struck by Vehicle

At approximately 4:43 PM this evening, deputies responded to the 300 block of 55th Street in Fairfield, Alabama to investigate a report of a child struck by a vehicle.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered an 11-year-old male, suffering from bruises and a leg injury.  Fairfield Fire and Rescue transported the child to Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the child may have been attempting to catch his dog as he ran between parked vehicles and into the street before being struck by a vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative.

The accident is still under investigation.
