Deputies Exchange Gunfire with Domestic Violence Suspect; Suspect Apprehended in Pinson

On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 11:22 p.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4000 block of St. John Lane in Pinson, Alabama, to investigate a report of domestic violence involving a male suspect allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 39-year-old male suspect, who discharged multiple rounds at responding deputies. Deputies returned fire. The suspect then fled the scene on foot into a nearby wooded area.

Additional responding units established a perimeter and initiated a search of the area. At approximately 1:36 a.m. on April 14, 2026, the suspect was located in a wooded area near the 4000 block of Leigh Lane and was taken into custody without further incident.

Center Point Fire & Rescue responded to the scene to conduct a welfare check on the female victim and her two children. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The suspect has been identified as Triston Wilhite, 39.  Wilhite has been charged with Domestic Violence 3rd Degree (Aggravated Assault), Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling, and Attempted Murder.  Wilhite is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $90,000 bond.
