Deputies Involved in Shooting While Attempting to Serve Warrant

On Wednesday May 29, 2019 at approximately 12:02pm Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to arrest a Hispanic man on an outstanding warrant near 5th Avenue in Bessemer.  During a confrontation, Deputies shot at the suspect. The suspect fled the scene and a BOLO (Be On The Look Out) was issued for the suspect and his vehicle.  The suspect is identified as 32 year old Edder Hernandez.  Hernandez has used different names and dates of births in the past.  Hernandez was located at a local hospital being treated for his gun shot wounds.  Hernandez is expected to survive.  The BOLO has been cancelled.  The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the incident.
