Deputy Involved Shooting In Center Point

On Sunday February 3, 2019 at approximately 9:48am a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a moving violation.  The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled into an apartment complex parking lot off Polly Reed road.  The driver exited the vehicle with a handgun.  The Deputy then fired and struck the driver. The handgun was recovered and later found to be stolen.  The driver of the vehicle is being treated for his injuries.  The Deputy was unharmed. The investigation has been turned over to ALEA.
