On August 19, 2023, during normal cell checks, deputies found a 46-year-old inmate deceased in his cell. The circumstances surrounding the death do not suggest foul play, nor do they suggest anyone else was involved. Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are working with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office to verify the details surrounding the death.
