At about 4:30 this morning a deputy traveling Littleton Kilgore Rd spotted an SUV pulling a utility trailer that had no lights. The deputy began to turn around and the vehicle sped away. The deputy initially lost sight of the vehicle, but soon found it without the trailer. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver refused to stop and pulled off the road into a wooded area. The two adult males inside the vehicle fled on foot.

Additional deputies arrived including a tracking dog. A perimeter was established and a ground search began. At about 5:30 the driver, 29-year-old Joseph Robert Watts of Dora, was taken into custody. The passenger was not located.

Deputies discovered that the SUV had been reported stolen in Graysville on Saturday.

Watts was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. He is charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree, Receiving Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Attempting to Elude and Driving While License is Revoked. His bond is set at $5900.
