On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 2:18 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 3810 7th Avenue, Brighton, Alabama (Brightton Community Center) to investigate a report of two people shot. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 2 adult male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Brighton Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced both victims deceased. There were no other reported injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a funeral repass occurring at the Community Center when the shooting took place. The assault happened outside of the Brighton Community Center.
Victim #1 has been identified as: Roderick Hall, age 38, of Midfield, Alabama.
Victim #2 has been identified as: D’Angelo La’Marcus Samuel, age 27, of Birmingham, Alabama.
The suspect has been identified as: James David Abercrombie, age, 27. Abercrombie has been charged with Capital Murder with no bond; 4 Counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling with a bond of $15,000.00 each; and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol with a bond of $6,000.00. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
