Around 2:47 PM today, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Overlook Place and Hillside Drive in Fairfield after receiving multiple calls that a person had been shot. Deputies arrived to find a 17-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by medical personnel to UAB Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The victim was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by gunfire. Another person received minor injuries during the incident.
