Just after 10:30 yesterday morning deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 3000 block of Summit Ridge Drive in Forestdale. The adult male victim told deputies that he had been home when a man he knows broke into his house.

He told deputies that he had been on his back deck when he noticed his front door was open. He went to close it and saw the suspect carrying his television down the street. The victim yelled for the suspect to bring the television back and he did. After dropping the television in the driveway the suspect showed the victim he had a gun and fled on foot.

Deputies located the suspect walking a couple of blocks away. He was positively identified and arrested. Deputies found a toy gun wrapped in a sweat shirt near the edge of the victim’s driveway.

The suspect, 19 year old Maurez Maquan Morris, of Forestdale was charged with Armed Burglary 1st Degree. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains with bond set at $5,000.
