Fourth Suspect Identified in Shooting During Drug Search Warrant

Three Birmingham men are in the Jefferson County Jail Charged with two counts of Attempted Murder each. The three engaged in gunfire with two deputies at the rear of the house as the injured was being moved to safety.

25 year old Stephen Lamar Gadson of Birmingham was shot in the shoulder during the exchange of gunfire inside the home in the 2900 block of Dowell Avenue SW. He was treated and released from UAB Hospital. Once released, he was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder. He has no bond.

21 year old Antaurean Markese Riggs of Birmingham was arrested on the scene. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail. He is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and has no bond.

24 year old Antuan Cornell Riggs of Birmingham was shot in the ankle and fled the scene. He was able to get a ride away from the area and remains at large. He turned himself in to detectives today and is in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.

During the course of the investigation detectives identified a fourth suspect. It was learned that 25 year old Dejuan Reshad Dedrick of Birmingham had likely fired the shots that struck the deputy. He fled the scene and remains at large. A warrant was issued this afternoon charging him with one count of attempted murder for firing the shots that struck the deputy. He has no bond. There is an active search for this suspect and anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to contact the sheriffs office at 325-1450.
