Homeowner shot by armed intruder

On Tuesday November 16, 2021 at approximately 10:52am Jefferson County Deputies were dispatched to the 2500 block of 6th Street NE on a report of a homeowner being shot by and intruder.  The 64 year old homeowner reported that he arrived home and heard noises coming from downstairs and that when he went downstairs he encountered a burglar in his home. The burglar was armed with a pistol and fired a shot striking the homeowner.  The burglar then fled.  The homeowners injuries appear to be non-life threatening and he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.   Evidence was recovered on the scene and deputies are currently searching for the offender.
